In GTA Online, talking to others is really important. If you don’t talk to other players, you might face some tough situations.
Even if you like playing GTA Online alone, there are cool things you can only do by playing with others.
The game has different ways for players to talk to each other. If you don’t want to talk out loud or don’t have a microphone, don’t worry. You can just type in the chat or use emotes to show how you feel.
Sometimes, a simple thing like pointing can say a lot without using words. But if you’re new to the game, you might not know how to do that gesture.
How to Point a Finger in GTA Online PC, ps5, ps4 & Xbox one)
In GTA Online, if you’re playing on a PC, you can use the ‘B’ key, and on consoles, you can double-click the right analog stick to make your character point in the direction of the camera. This is helpful for players who don’t use a microphone.
Adjusting your character to point in the direction your camera is facing also works in the third-person camera mode. While it doesn’t affect the game, it can be useful for those who can’t talk through a microphone.
Before and after races, deathmatches, and missions in GTA Online, players can make different hand and arm motions. These gestures are also available in Free Mode, allowing you to do them while walking or in a car.
You can use these emotes in Director Mode as well, although some actions are not available for players to perform. You can customize all gestures through the Interaction Menu or the Pause Menu’s settings section.
During Heists or other missions, it’s recommended to use microphones for more efficient communication to complete objectives. Heists can get chaotic, and players need to work together to survive.
The pointing gesture is specific to the Online multiplayer mode; there’s no guide on how to point in GTA 5. In offline mode, you work alone, so constant communication isn’t necessary. However, in Online mode, talking to other players, both verbally and through gestures, enhances the gaming experience.
Unlike some other games like Apex Legends, Grand Theft Auto Online doesn’t have a ping mechanism. Nevertheless, pointing works well in the game for conveying simple messages. While gestures like pointing don’t make playing without microphones 100% efficient, they do make it playable.
